Does anyone else have a LO who is content to lie in their cots forever in the morning without crying/shouting?

My DS is 2 and has never once woken us up in the morning by crying or shouting for us. He literally either just lies there quite happily looking at the ceiling, or plays with his soft toys, books (that are in his cot) or his musical toy that is attached to the side until one of us goes and gets him.

Once he is up, he is the exact opposite and always wants to be with us, wants us to entertain him etc - he is a very lively child - but not first thing in the morning.

Sometimes, we know he is awake because his music is playing but we have been known to leave him in his cot for upto 45 minutes and he never ever makes a sound (other than the music of course).

When I tell people they are amazed - just wondered if other children are like this?

ooh I remember those days...

we always had our room door open and his room door open when he was a baby and he would lie in his cot quietly until he saw us in the hall. It was fab.

I have to say it all changed with the arrival of his big boy bed. These days it wouldnt cross his head to lie 1 min beyond the time his eyes open even when thats 5am!!!

enjoy it while it lasts

NO never.

My DD suffers such extreme seperation anxiety that she's taken to saying 'where daddy/mummy gone' when you just stand up. She hates being seperated even by sight. Tis a nightmare. how I wish things were different.

DS gets his voice and feet into gear before he is even really awake.

DD used to do this -in fact she still does - she's now 18 & can lie awake in bed for hours after waking up......

OurHamsterisevil · 02/08/2008 21:43

Both Ds's have done this. We are very amazingly excellent fabulous lucky, and blessed parents

DD does this, she's 22mo. She usually wakes around 7am but plays and dozes on and off until we go in around 8am. She also asks to 'go to bed please' after lunch - but when I put her down for a nap, I can hear her singing, chatting and jumping up and down for anything up to an hour!

She used to be a rubbish sleeper ironically - woke every 1.5/2hrs all night for months and months so I really do appreciate it now

Also, handy as I can feed DS while I'm lying down in bed dozing, rather than getting them both up and starting the day!

Wow, thats brilliant My DS is the opposite, once he wakes up he's wide awake and comes into our room and sits on DH's chest bouncing up and down and tweaking his nipples! (He's 22 months).
Do you think it makes a difference how you treat them as a baby, e.g. either by being very cuddly and holding them a lot, rocking to sleep or by letting them cry a bit and getting them to learn to settle themselves?
