I give up with my 2 on this word. We have 'bana' from my 4 year old and 'na-na' from my 20month old. Is this a tough word or something?!

nana here (2.5) - as demonstrated Every Single Morning when we leave the house and see the van with the parachuting banana opposite

Only marginally different to "nona" which is noddy.

parachuting banana? I am intrigued.

DS (now 3) says banana properly, but he still says b's for v's most of the time which is pretty cute.

Flamesparrow · 19/07/2008 22:36

It is some wholesale fruit/veg delivery thing

PInkyminkyohnooo · 19/07/2008 22:44

ahh. my DD would be transfixed, she's such a banana addict!

Flamesparrow · 19/07/2008 23:07

Dinner finished teafortwo and milkfortwo are starting to clear away the dishes chatting about this and that. Suddenly milkfortwo notices the fruit bowl...

Milkfortwo: Waaaaahhh!!! Nan nan aaaarrrr! Er er er!!!

Teafortwo: Do you mean - Mummy, I would like a banana, please?

Milkfortwo: Mummy nan nan aaaaaar peas!

Teafortwo reaches for the banana smiling at milkfortwo.

Narrator (Teafortwo's thoughts): At least it sounds a bit like banana she used to call dogs wazawooos - Seriously where did that come from????

minouminou · 19/07/2008 23:44

we've got (DS is 21 mo) "neanghnegenyegahneyah"

columbolover · 19/07/2008 23:54

ds, 17mo, after his breakfast, points into the kitchen, takes me to the fruitbowl and asks for a "awahwah"

desertgirl · 20/07/2008 00:00

mine says 'manana' (2 tomorrow) which I don't really understand as he can say 'b' fine in other words...

MmeLindt · 20/07/2008 00:01

I read that DCs do not actually hear the first syllable of Banana, they hear Nana.

And if they cannot hear it then they cannot say it and it makes no sense to repeat it, "yes, DD a ba nana, say ba nana"

DD thinks, what is the silly woman going on about, I am saying Nana just like her.

Did not read that until DCs were old enough to actually pronounce banana properly

I find in life I never really have a full grasp of the questions but know Lindt is definately the answer.

MmeLindt you have proved my theory correct!

What a great answer to a question I never knew I had.

Bravo!!!
