8 month old pulling up on everything, is he safe in his cot?

Hello. just wandering about my baby who has recently started pulling up- on anything and everything. I can't leave him for a second as he keeps tumbling and crashing his head into things all in his rush to get onto his feet. In his cot he has started pulling up as I try and get him off to sleep. I leave his room only to find him climbing the sides. I'm worried he'll lose balance and crack his head on the cot sides? Any advice?

Is his cot in the lowest position?
Take out any bumpers/ extraneous toys/ stuff on the side bars of the cot
Put him in a sleeping bag?

The tumbling falling-backwards-like-a-tombstone stage is quite short, they soon learn how to fall and land on their bottoms, or cushion the fall with their arms. My ds had two nasty falls then within a week he was much better at falling.

As for the cot as long as it's on it's lowest setting then don't worry. The cot is a good place to practise pulling up, there's only so much damage they can do!

Thanks for tips, I guess bumps are all part of getting active. Glad to hear they learn how to fall well!

Hi, glad somebody else asked this as I've been wondering myself! DD is 9 mo and is always banging her head on the sides of her cot as she bumbles about at bedtime. It makes me wince when i hear it but i don't know what the solution is. She goes to bed in her sleeping bag which might actually be worse she still pulls herself to standing but with excess material to trip her/tangle her legs.
My mum is a HV and says "ooh it's fine, it sounds worse than it is, blah de blah..." but it can't be good can it?!

I had this problem with DS now 2, he was always falling and hitting his head which sounded dreadful but then he learned to fall onto his bumb and not straight back, it does get easier honest! There isnt really much you can do about though

As mentioned on another post try cot toys and perhaps he will be kept amused sitting down for a bit
