My DD still has a bottle before she goes off to sleep of a night. She has about 8oz of formula. I have never stopped, i dont know why. She has a healthy diet i think, with plenty of variety. She does not however drink much milk during the day. She likes it but will only drink a bit. Cows milk, i mean. So of a night she has SMA and i am happy about that because she gets all the vitamins from it. But its expensive and probably unnecessary. Last night we gave her cows milk in a bottle and she only took half.

Is that because she didn't like the milk, or is it because it is more fatty so filled her up more?? I think i would struggle to get her to have a pint a day if we didnt do the bottle of a night. I also might struggle to get her to sleep

Any thoughts (apart from the obvious "don't be so PFB )?

our ds (just 3) still has a beaker of warmed milk with his bedtime story & half a beaker when he gets up in the morning. it's a really nice cosy, calming aspect of our bedtime routine, i think.

could you try, as i think some have mentioned already, mixing cows milk and formula & gradually altering the amounts.

with my ds2 i use a nuk bottle, but with the beaker teat attachment instead. i did buy them in germany so not sure of you can get them in uk?

good luck

ds (3.6) still has 8oz cows milk in a baby bottle before bed.
He loves it and it gives us some closeness time, reading story and bottle in my bed before he goes into his.
dd was excatly the same, didnt give it up til she started school at 4.

I dont see whats wrong with it, its not like ur giving them a glass of coca cola before bed

As I said, I'm definately not judging anyone!!

We have same snuggly bedtime routine with dd 3yrs. She has her milk in an anyway up or soft spout cup.

She often takes it to bed which I know is also frowned upon

Three is not old enough for bedtime bottle at all. One of mine had bottle at bed time until almost five years and decided to stop herself. Other child never had a bottle and just went from boob to cup.

All kids are different and they are only little for such a short while, if she likes her bedtime bottle then let her have it.

My dd who had the bottle until nearly five has perfect teeth and it did not effect her.

She will drop it herself.

I cant believe how people can frown upon a small child taking milk to bed in a bottle or cup.

Its not going to ruin their teeth, they will outgrow it, it wont effect their development or their independence.

I sucked a dummy for many years and my teeth are not effected or my speech and i dont smoke (as some stupid research claims)

Sorry you probably guessed my first sentence should have read

"Three is not TOO old for a bedtime bottle..."

My DS 2.4 has been on cows milk for the past few months, he still has his bottle morning and night (5/6oz), he drinks plenty of water, juice, milk during the day from either a proper cup or a beaker, we are going to try the milk at night in a beaker (have tried before but he was not having it, must be a comfort thing).
We changed him over by given him cows milk during the day (slightly warm as he likes his bottle warm), then once he was used to drinking the cows milk we alternated the formular and cows nightly, but reducing the formular amount (from 8oz nightly down to 5/6oz), so in the end he was drinking cows (kept this at 5/6oz all the time). It was much easier than I thought it would be, as he loved his formular bottle of milk...

My DS almost 3 drinks tons of milk ALL from a bottle (goats milk), its mostly comfort and I dont care what anyone else thinks. he drinks juice/water out of a cup or glass and is otherwise very grown up.

he has perfect teeth and his speech is that of a four year old apparently.

he's never had a dummy though...
