dd and ds1 aged 8 and 7 wanted to save up to take money on holiday.so we did them little list of chores.little things like make bed etc but things that are really helpful for them to do!they make lunch box, empty lunch box,put lunch box in the kitchen(before they were left all over floor!),feed rabbit, get dressed in certain time, empty dishwasher, make bed.they get 20 pence a job and theyre doing really well!
my question is after holiday should i put it down to ten pence a job or less.is 20 pence a job too much?if they do all there jobs each day they get 1.40 a day

Just means you'll need to spend less on holiday, doesn't it? Cos they'll be buying their treats, etc. So it's free labour really

didnt think of it like that!

they are actually loving it!

I think you should have a weekly rate.

I don't think 20p a job is to much it just depends how many jobs they do.

You could continue after your holidays but say you will pay them weekly.

Sounds like a great scheme, esp if you mentally subtract some of the money from that you planned to use on holiday (so maybe say that you won't be paying for sweets, icecreams or other little bits)

See whether they keep doing everything when you get back, then maybe have a list of 'required jobs' (ie get dressed on time, make bed, feed rabbit),and if they are all done then they get their weekly pocket money, and then have a list of optional bonus jobs which earn them extra money and can be done if they fancy the extra money.

i think weekly would be ok with dd but ds needs lots of encouragement (for anything)so money in hand at end of the day means he does the jobs the next day.

dd is already asking for more jobs!
theyre money for holiday will include any treats they want so as you said itll come off the money i budget for holiday
