DS (nearly two) keeps pulling his willy out of the top of his nappy.

Result: wee everywhere several times a day/night.

Any tips on getting him to keep it in?

elastoplast

dungarees

sleeping bag

???

Try potty training him?
My two did nothing but play with their willies once they were out of nappies and could get their hands on it.

Or,

handcuffs?

Litterbug · 07/07/2008 17:11

My DS does this constantly. He does NOT leave it alone

No advice though, sorry!

bubblagirl · 07/07/2008 17:11

im afraid not my ds is always doing it although not so much at night distract as much as possible when doing it and then hope that the habit will calm down and then be safe for a night

i did find tighter elasticated pj bottoms so wasnt as easy for him to get to nappy but habit has worn out for night its just day times but then we leave nappy off so his free to pin it to the carpet as much as he likes

MadamAnt · 07/07/2008 17:13

lol at elastoplast and handcuffs.

We've tried dungarees and sleeping bag, but he still gets in.

I don't think he's ready for potty training. Shouldn't they be quite verbal before you start? (He doesn't say much yet).

PS - was the elastoplast a serious suggestion? And if so, what bit do I stick down? His willy?

you could do - I cringe at the idea of removing it!

wait until he is ready for potty training him. He will let you know... spontaneous removal of nappy and weeing proudly like a tom cat

could try micropore to stick the top of his nappy to his tum

all in one sleep suit - with a zip

shrink wrap/ cling film round his torso

It doesn't get any better when they are toilet trained. My ds is 4 and his hands are always down there, esp when feeling strong emotions

My nearly 3 year old has started doing this all the time so I think its time to have another go at potty training! My almost 8 month old puts his hand down there as soon as his nappys off. I think its a lifelong male obsession!!!

fishnet · 07/07/2008 20:03

DS1 (3) started this at about he same age. He told me "mummy I love my winkle it makes me feel happy" - after that I felt mean trying to stop his fiddling .

Sympathise with the problem but we didn't find any solution other than telling him that his winkle needed to go to sleep somehwre nice and cosy so he should leave it where it is.

jollyjolly · 07/07/2008 22:47

can't you put a tight vest with poppers on under his pj's?

MadamAnt · 08/07/2008 08:17

jolly - yes, I think that's going to be the only workable solution. Annoying though, as I ditched all the popper vests a while ago. I'll have to go and get some more.

MadamAnt - ds nearly 2 is doing the EXACT same thing. However he is getting 80% of his wee and poo in the potty.

At night we put his nappy on backwards....it worked

Koshka · 08/07/2008 09:09

Oh no the things boys do are 'orrible!

DS pulls his nappy down at the back and plays with his bum! Luckily not when he has pooed!

No boys in my family, so i was really shocked when DS started playing with his willy!!!
