18 month old - bad behaviour!

My 18 month old was realy good from the day she was born. Now she whinges constantly, you can't leave the room without her screaming and if she can't get her own way she crys and throws things. I have to leave her to cry when i put her to bed and she wakes between 1-4 and won't settle back down till goes into my room. What can i do? Am i doing something wrong?

You are doing nothing wrong, this is normal behavior and it's because she is a toddler.

RE going into your room, do you mind or not? If you are going to cave, do so immediately or you're just wasting valuable sleeping time. If you don't want her in your room, be firm and don't let her.

Her behavior in the day is normal, it's not desirable but at this age you are best just ignoring the whining and tantrumming - discipline doesn't sink in.

she sounds like your average toddler

at 18 months they are not speaking enough to make themsleves understood so they "whinge" and cry

it is "bad" behaviour as such, just she is starting to push boundaries ...

you aren't doing anything wrong, and if she is comforted by being in your bed then that is fine too

x-post with the VERY wise Colditz there ...

sounds completely normal to me too, my youngest is 17 months and he comes in with us during the night. We are all happier and get more sleep. It doesn't last forever.

Thanx!

I would like her to stay in her own bed but i work full time and when i have left her to cry herself back to sleep, the next day at work i have not got much work done and justed wanted to crawl under the table and go to sleep!

When she has stayed round both grandparents she is brill, they have no probs.
