Help what's happened to my 12 month old DD - ill or seperation anxiety?

I am worried about my DD. She has literally just turned 1 year, and has changed from happy, easy going, two naps like clockwork a day DD, to screaming, don't need to sleep, clingy child. This coincides with her 12 month injections and I am not sure if she is ill, or just going through seperation anxiety.

Some more details. I am thinking she might be ill as she is screaming quite frequently throughout the day (high pitched, arching back, doesn't want to be held). She has never done this in the past. However, she will stop quite quickly usually if I hold her, and her screaming is similar to her reaction when she can't have something she wants.

So tantrum or ill?

Also, she is quite grumpy and is not enjoying playing with her toys as usual. She is always looking for me, and will not be consoled by DH or anybody else. She wants me to hold her, but then is still not content when I am. She never seems happy.

She has not had trouble teething in the past, and does not appear to be teething now.

She still sleeps fine at night (fingers crossed now!)

I have been giving her calpol as sometimes when she's screaming she takes a while to calm down, but she doesn't have a temperature, and I don't want to continue this if it's a developmental thing.

Heeeeeelp. What do you think?

I might take her to the Dr's tomorrow to be on the safe side, but would really appreciate any thoughts. Sorry this is so long.

hmmm sounds like ill to me so would def take her to the docs as she might have an ear infection or something, my dd displayed exactly the same sort of behaviour with no temp and thats what it turned out to be. If she is no better in a week or so then its prob a seperation anxiety thing which is common at that age. Good luck XxX

I am a big believer in mum knowing their baby the best. What is your gut instinct? Does calpol make any difference? How long has it been going o for? I do think you are right to get her checked out though. Even if its just for your own peace of mind.

Then if she is well, have a look at when the screaming etc happens maybe write it down so you can spot any themes ie if you need her to do/not do something. times of day - she might be tired etc

It could be an ear infection girliefriend - she is rubbing her head / ears a bit com to think of it. Her breath also smells slightly, which it never has done before, which indicates illness maybe.

Calpol seems to help a little - I think. It's hard to tell. She will still scream after calpol though, so not too sure.

MF - gut instinct was saying ill, but now I'm confused. It has been going on for a week and a bit. Ever since she abandoned naps. I think you're right - she is tired too now as she wont sleep anymore in the day. A vicious circle. I will def take her to be checked out tomorrow.

Just in case anyone was interested, I took DD to the DR's today and she has German Measles. Thanks for your help on here.
