first ever sleep over - what am I meant to *do*? what do you *do*?

I can remember the excitement as a kid - talking long and late, planning mid-night feasts, (but never staying awake long enough to sneak downstairs and carry them out) illicitly turning the light on and playing games (so much more fun precisely because it was illicit).

DD1 has got her best friend over for her first ever sleep over. dd2 is joining in with it all (all 3 of them on the floor in sleeping bags - 2 empty beds ). They watched tv til 9 and then "went to bed". dd1 came downstairs to ask if they could play top trumps and I said no, followed by the broadest hint ever that if I couldn;t hear what was going on I was unlikely to care...

they're still wide awake and unless I am much mistaken they are almost certainly playing top trumps. did I do wrong? should I disturb their "illicit" game...? which is more important to 2 8 years olds and a 6 year old - staying up late and having fun or getting to sleep...?

sorry we all missed this hatwoman, but I do hope you didn't go upstairs and stop their illicit game!!

A sleepover is probably as you say...staying up late...doing all the stuff you're not normally allowed to do. Just be prepared for them to be overtired and a complete pain tomorrow. But they will have had a fun ...and just think - they were making good memories!
