im am looking after my sisters dc's today my niece,3 and nephew,1.

niece has brought her dolly with her. nephew loves dollies but cannot have nieces dolly as she is playing with it with my dd1.

i found a smaller dolly my dd2 (1) decided that she wanted it. nephew was not impressed he wanted baby molly or whatever the doll is called (elc's version of baby annabel) dd2 was equally not impressed with the small dolly she was given she still wanted the one nephew who had. when i gave her it as nephew was still crying for nieces dolly nephew screamed the place down.

i have just spent half an hour hunting through our toy box for baby chou chou and baby annabell. gave nephew baby annabell which he was happy with. dd2 got baby chou chou. was everyone happy? NO of course they bloody werent they are all under 5!!!

my dd1 (4) decided that she wanted her baby annabell and gave nephew baby molly. which he now didnt want!!

i have about 7 dolls atm and only four dcs but can they find a way that they are all happy! no of course they cant they all want what the other has!!!

why do children do this and what is wrong with poor baby born? why does no one want baby born?

no one has any ideas as to why they do this then? or how to stop it? all the dolls look the same to me but just in different clothes they can clearly see something that i cant!!

and its not going to get better is it? i have 2 dds and im going to end up having to have two baby annabells, two baby borns etc arent i?

surely one of you wise mnetters out there ahve discovered an igenious way of solving this? [hopefull emoticon]

I feel your pain. I made a stupid stupid rookie mistake last week. dd1 needed a new bowl as hers had broken. So I took them shopping (btw how hard is it to find decent bowls that aren't in a set or about £500!). Choose one I tell dd1, then think ah better let dd2 choose one too. . . just to be fair. DD1 chooses Fifi dd2 chooses giraffes and elephants.
When I put their breakfast cereal in front of them in the morning. all hell breaks loose. They both want sodding Fifi. Why did I not buy 2 of both. Or not take them shopping and just buy two bowls the same.
DD2 has now taken fifi as her own. dd1 now nicked my crappy white china bowl that I use to microwave beans (it really is ugly).

I'll play with baby born!!

We've come back from the shops before now with 2 identical toys - but they both want the same one - they're the same, but no one is always slightly better than the other.

I don't think it's the toy, it's just trying to work out who's 'top dog' if that makes sense

oh yes we have that with cups!! we have every character going and to me they are all the same!! but as dp points out they are not the same one is barbie one is disney!! they are both pink and both have princesses on the front!! why the fuss over who has which one?

i bet if i get out baby borns bath they will all want her!!!

I laughed at this... I have boy/girl twins and they ALWAYS want whatever the other one has. Anything. Food, cup, cat, piece of fluff, anything. The most interesting toy in the room is basically the toy the other one has. Even things that are absolutely identical. She is especially bad at it, he seems to kind of give up once she has staked her claim. But when their younger cousin came round they both picked on her!!

I was hoping they might grow out of it (are 12 mths) but looks like not!

Actually cups are the only exception to the rule here. DD1 has a clear one with a pink cat and a green one with caterpillars. dd2 has a red/dark pink one and a purple one with caterpillars. This must never be deviated from.

oh yeah my nephew is always the one who gives in first!! girls rule!!

right now they are fighting over blankets (for the babies)!! apart from dd2 who is taking great pleasure in rumaging through my clean ironing pile i should have taken upstairs before they all got here/got up!! she seems to collecting odd socks!! im fairly certain that the others are going to notice her soon and they will all want the pink sock!!

well it carried on all they day! they even fought over my mum!! dd1 kicked dd2 off the trampoline a few times, my niece started screaming hysterically as i took a nappy from my sisters bag and she day thought i was stealing her coat and dd1 and niece had a massive fight (with more tears and hysterical screaming) over a charm from a book! dd2 and nephew crawled about after each other all stealing things from each other and growling at each other!!

and according to dd1 i have said they can all have a sleepover in her new room when we move!!! oh and her other cousin an dmy friends dd are invited too!!!
