I don't want the psycho nurse to vaccinate my daughter !!

I think my daughter is comming up for a pre school vaccination and I'm really worried. The woman at our doctars that does the injections is a bit of a bitch (to be blunt!) when our daughter had her first injections, I put on some emlla cream that numbs the area. When she saw this she got really ratty and said "why have you done that? It isn't right to wrap them up in cotton wool, they all have to have it done". I just thought what a cow. Wouldn't anyone want to limit their childs discomfort? Anyway my daughter has always cried her eyes out when she's had her jabs with this woman but once it was a different lady and Lucy only cried a little bit.
I've had some blood taken recently buy the psycho nurse and I have huge vains and she managed to cock it up and gave me a huge bruise and a lump. It also hurt like hell. I never mind having injections etc.
I don't want her to give my daughter her jab as she is just not very good at it imo. How can I get someone else to do it?

Phone the surgery and request someone else does it. Just say you don't get on with the woman - there will be lots of other people who can do it - health visitors, GPs, even midwives.

It's worth telling them though - who knows who else she's offending - most folks won't say anything and then the problem just continues.

Talk to your GP about your concerns. There may be an issue here that her employers need to know about.
However I do think Emla is not necessary-vaccinations really don't hurt much, but anticipation is likely to make it worse. The less you make of them, the less your daughter will.

Just ask for someone else when you call to make the appointment. I don't like the nurse who does the vaccinations clinic so I ask to see the other nurse- has never been a problem.

Neverenough- Lucy was only a baby when she had the injections so didn't have a clue what the cream was for. She still cried her eyes out though. It is awful for us parents, mind you after she'd had them done and was o.k again I felt sooo relieved that it was over and done with. It is also very important that she has them to protect her. I will definatly ask for someone else to do it though.

make sure you tell her what is happening before you go and tell her if she is brave she will get a treat after. My dh took dd to woolies and let her pick a toy.
She will cry but it will only sting for a second.I hate taking the kids for them so poor dh does it.

We had the dcs' vaccinations done by the GP, following an encounter with our hv and her needle (she's nice, but is rubbish at vaccinations... and yes, we did complain!)
