I find it very hard to manage my 5 year old boy, he doesn't listen to what I tell him, I have to repeat things a million times to no avail, I then direct him to the naughty corner, face against the wall, he doesn't want to turn and will hold my hands and try to push me, I don't know where he picked up that behaviour!! He sometimes goes on youtube kids, which I think may the culprit. My first question is, what do you do/suggest when a child doesn't listen?
Also, I find it hard to help him understand not to touch things that are not his, in fact he does understand this concept, but will just take others' stuff regardless. eg, today, he casually took a sweet from a shop behind my back only for the shopkeeper to stop him!! I'm at loss on what to do and questionning my abilities to parent as a single mother. My second question is, what methods do you use to help a child understand what not to do, even after you've explained why it was wrong?
The above is rather grim, but we do do fun stuff together, go to the park/park/zoo/city centre, play on the trampoline, read together...In fact, strangely enough,I find that he listen to me a LOT BETTER when we're out and not at home. I dont know what it is about the home environment, but there's a noticeable difference. Please help me, any videos, links, books etc would be hugely useful
