Help! My son just ate cat sick

Well I think he did. I was playing with his sister and he was happily playing with his back to me. Then he turned round to smile and I realised he had been playing with some cat sick, it was all up his arms and round his mouth. I have no idea whether he actually ate it but since it was right around his mouth I assume he did. Plus he looked jolly pleased with himself, as he does when eating pebbles/dirt/newspaper/fluff/anything he is not supposed to eat.

What should I do? I have given him his bottle and he seems OK, no more sicky than usual. He is 12 mths old.

(And yes I know some of you probably have strong feelings about cats and babies but I have 2 of each and they all seem very happy together most of time.....)

Sucking dirt off a worm!! That is very funny (and gross). And the vegetarian...... even funnier.

Thanks for all your comments. He still seems OK, no harm done, reassuring to know that others have had the same fate.... Today he was trying to eat his own sick while I was changing his sister so clearly not been put off sick as a food substance.

(As some others have said, cat sick/hairballs has no smell if they live off dried food, unlike cat poo or wee, so you don't know they've done it unless you hear them or see it. It was hidden behind a footstool that DS little hands were small enough to get round. I would NEVER knowingly leave it out!!!!)

Having cats around can help lower pet allergies in later life btw.
Soon as ds starts to crawl I'm putting a gate across kitchen door so he can't eat cat food or cat litter!

My DS ate some cat sick when he was crawling age -hes now just reached his 4th birthday with no ill effects you'll be pleased to hear.

I must add that DP was in charge of him at the time. The cat had obviously silently puked (it was in the doorway to the room so its not as though it had been there ages and been overlooked) and DS had just crawled over, out of sight and "experienced" it. DP realised something was up when he noticed DS had gone quiet

I have more trouble trying to stop my cat eating my baby. He appears to think 2DD are enough to contend with and would quite happily cut this one (DD3) off at the pass.

My friends 1yo eats slugs whenever she can sneak one in and I distinctly recall feeding my yonger sister a centipede when she was a toddler because I wanted to know whether it tasted nice. Another friend turned around to check on her 18mth DD when driving, to find she was happily picking away at a chewy sweet which was stuck in the treads of her shoes. Yum!

I can't shake the possibility that actually, cat sick might be a tasty alternative to Cow&Gate, as it goes
