Advice on handling my five-year-old's curiosity about private parts - inappropriate behaviour

Hi,

My 5 year old son seems to be very curious about private parts of other kids (especially girls). We had one incident a year ago when he asked a friend to show him her butt and she did. It happened in school and we were told straight away. Dealt with it by talking and explaining things.
However, yesterday another little girl's mum called and this time my son pulled little girl's shorts down to look.

I really need some advice how to deal with these situations. How to explain to him the seriousness of it all. What resources could be used to get the message accepted?

My son is a smart little boy but he struggles to see how his actions affect others. He also struggles a lot with impulse control and putting himself in other people's shoes.

So far we used some story books and encyclopedia to talk about private parts.

Any advice and experience is welcome. I feel horrible.

If he’s being inappropriate, and struggles with impulse control and empathy I think I would talk all of these issues through with his Teacher.

It’s probably worth doing this simple progress checker too, just to make sure that his understanding is where it should be Flowers

Thank you for the progress checker. We have no concerns regarding his speech or understanding. He speaks really really well.

His teacher finds him full of energy that he sometimes struggles to control. He gets overwhelmed quite easily. We spend at least an hour after school in a park each working day. More over the weekend.

It’s really, really good that he speaks well, however, I’d still do the progress checker. My own DC2 has a problem with communication but it’s very hard to spot if you don’t know that it’s there Flowers
