Any experienced sling wearers out there? Does it affect their sleep at night?

I am assuming that I will end up carrying the new baby in a sling quite alot as we have an 18 mo and I suspect I'll need my hands free to prevent a bad back etc. I was just wondering that if the baby ends up being carried alot of the time, does it end up sleeping more and does it then become difficult for them to sleep at night in a cot?

Not at all in my case. My ds was a grumpy little baby and needed constant holding and movement to settle him. I got a sling and paced around with him most of the day. He napped on me (still does ) but slept through in his cot for 11 hours a night from arounnd 12 weeks. Even before this, he would sleep for 5 hours in his cot, wake for a feed and straight back to sleep til 7am. I found the sling a life saver. Just make sure you get a comfy one cos some of them can be a litle uncomfortable around your neck if you use them a lot, which I did! I found the Coorie Pouch sling great when he was a new born and the Kari Me sling sood as he got older.

Thanks for that - I've actually got a didymos already but I just wanted to make sure that I wouldn't be jeopardising night time by doing loads of slinging in the day!
