I’ve had concerns with my LO since they were little. It seems nothing comes naturally to them. Like NOTHING. They are developing much differently to my first

12m old and looking at the questionnaire has failed (black) every section!!! Aware it goes up to 12m30d so has another few weeks but I don’t see that miracle happening.

HV is coming tomorrow no doubt I’ll be brushed off again (failed the 9 or 10m ASQ and they said they’d come see us again at 12m)

eyes checked all fine. Hearing checked but was unsuccessful in that LO would not let them put things in ears to test so got to revisit.

I am such a worried mam, is my beautiful baby going to be severely impaired when older :( I just want to help and know everything will be okay

@wishIwasonholiday10 how was your baby’s communication at 12 months?

I feel mine has good eye contact and joint attention (she’ll look at us if she finds something funny) but communication is very limited. She babbles a bit but no words (husband is convinced she says dada but this is her favourite sound to make so I’m note convinced). She seemed to be picking up waving a couple of weeks ago, but now she’ll only very rarely wave and I’m not sure if it’s more just her waving because she’s excited. Definitely no pointing or signalling that she wants something, apart from reaching for me when she wants me to lift her. Has clapped for a while and kind of does a high 5 I think.

My anxiety is really getting the better of me and making me believe that if she’s not trying to communicate with me yet that she’ll never learn to talk! If there is something holding her back then we’ll do whatever we can to give her the best life but I just really want to know she’ll be able to have her own voice one day.

It’s hard to remember now but I think she was marked in the grey for communication. She was waving and babbling but not don’t think she was pointing or clapping or speaking much. Her speech was still fairly limited at 18 months (a few words but not linking them) but it really took off between then and 2 years.
