my DD1 has walked on her tiptoes from almost the day she began walking..and no she didnt have a baby walker. I took her to the GP many times to be told she would grow out of it, and last week found out she needs to be referred and it may be physio or casting to sort her out (she is now 3) i was furious because i said to them over and over it wasnt normal, i NEVER saw any kids on tiptoes at playgroup etc.

So i have the appointment tomorrow to see what her fate is to be, if its too late for physio or if we can try that before leg casts...and horror of horrors, my DD2, whom is 2 next week, has begun to walk on her tiptoes, out of the blue. I know i am going over the top with her, telling her very firmly to walk properly, and all i can think is, i have been here before, i told my DD1 every day, all day long to get off her tiptoes and it never made a bit of difference. All i can think of is that i am going to end up with 2 dd's with physio and, or casts, along with a new baby due mid october! Why do my kids do this? i just dont understand it at all

My friend's dd (now age 5yrs) has been toe-walking for years, they were referred to a physio who gave them some exercises to do in order to strengthen the tendons (I think) but I believe she is still toe-walking. She is an otherwise completely regular kid.

If you have physio appt tomorrow perhaps you could discuss dd2 whilst you are there. They can't refuse to give you advice can they?!

Hope it goes well

thanks guys, its just i have been told that prolonged tip toe walking in time puts out your hip alignment and so causes back problems, plus my brother does it now at 26 and is always in pain with his feet, and i dont want my kids getting bullied for it, like the lad i went to school with that walked with a very pronounced bounce.

I thought about asking about my dd2, i think i will do, at least this time they will catch it early.
