Extremely worried mum of a 6 month old

i was wondering if someone can share any advise or experiences. I have been crying and worried all night and really didn’t know who to speak to. My son turned 6 months last week on Thursday he was born 2 week early. I have an American app called pathways and realised he is not doing a lot of things which he should be doing. He can roll belly to back but I think that’s because he hates being on his belly but he can’t roll back to belly. I am worried as he doesn’t even get into side lying position by himself. He does sit unaided and has good head control but he doesn’t keep his push up straight on his arms on tummy time in fact recently he has been regressing where he is crying again on his tummy while before he was tolerating it better. There was a 2-4 month milestone on pathway where he is suppose to be bearing weight on his feet assisted by 4 months. He does for a second if that but then starts bouncing. He does touch feet when lying down and brings his feet to his mouth. He loves grabbing stuff but some days I realise that he keeps his hands shut in a fist but opens it when he wants to grab by himself. We took him for a holiday to a hot country and he made progress there but since returning to Uk we have taken him to the gp three times and a and e once as he has a cough and a very bunged up nose which is ongoing since beginning of this year and shows no signs of clearing up. They think it’s bronchitis and send him home with nothing but to carry to steam and saline drops. Please if anyone can advise.

I’m so sorry that you’re so anxious OP. FWIW bouncing is bearing weight. If he wasn’t able to bear weight then he definitely wouldn’t have the strength to bounce. If it’s any help my first was a huge fan of bouncing and still likes to play sport as an adult Smile

If you’re worried to the point of crying then I would call the HV and tell her that you’re crying with worry and you would like her to assess your LO using the 6 month Ages & Stages. You’ll need to fill ot in before the appointment Flowers

Thank you for your reply I will try speaking to her again. I did speak to her last week and she kind of dismissed me.

From what you’ve said i dont think there is anything concerning, but I’m not a HCP. What you do need to see her about though is that you’re so worried about your LO it’s affecting your happiness.

Do speak to her again and ask her to assess him and stress how upset you are Flowers

It sounds like your baby is developing just fine. I know how anxious I used to feel about my first not hitting milestones exactly when she should, but you soon realise that they build these skills when they’re ready.
