Issues with childminder

So my DD started at childminders 10 months ago. She is now 20 months old. And childminder has raised an issue that DD is not really communicating, following instruction, pointing things out etc. That she zones out when childminder talks to her. But when she is at home she does all these things, she has about 10 words or sounds but she isn't using these at childminders and isn't even really doing any baby talk either. She has advised to get her a hearing test. I'm not sure if it's that, as she does all the things she doesn't do with her at home fine. I'm thinking it's more to do with the relationship between my daughter and the childminder and that something isn't right. I'm not really sure what to think tbh.

10 words at 20 months might be slightly behind, this is a good website for seeing how they re doing language wise and getting advice if needed https://progress-checker.speechandlanguage.org.uk/ and if it says there's no concerns then perhaps a conversation with the childminder where you say you ll speak to the health visitor and go from there if you aren't sure about a hearing test at this point.

I think your CM is giving you good advice here @Dawnb1183.

Ten words or sounds at twenty months does sound a little behind and getting a hearing test sorted is the correct next step to rule out Glue Ear. Plus if she does need SaLT at some point they will want her to have had a hearing test.

Have you managed to do the progress checker that 1995 linked to yet?

If it says that she needs some support, which is likely as it can err on the side of caution, them do come back and we can help you with the next steps but speaking to your HV about that hearing test is really good advice Flowers

I agree with the comments above, whilst it's great that your child is verbal. 10 words at 20 months is low.
In my experience childminders generally have a good understanding of where children should be at developmentally so it'd be worth a chat with your GP or HV just incase you need further support later down the line - If you don't great you can cancel any referrals but the wait lists are so long it's best to get the ball rolling.
