Hi everyone,
was just wondering if anyone has experienced the following and everything ended up ok)?
I have a 10 month old boy who I'm getting concerned about.
does not crawl ( almost there tho) , does not respond to name, no imitatation such as clapping waving. however he is generally happy can sit up, babbles and gives eye contact.
just waiting to see a health visitor as he also isn't doing very well with solids.
older son has Asd just wondering am I expecting to much from a 10 month old baby( was10 months on 12th Jan?

It’s absolutely fine to be concerned and only natural if you have ASD in the family.

Crawling has recently been removed from the milestones as it’s such an unreliable indicator.

If he’s not responding to his name or imitating, has the HV asked you to fill in both of these:

10 month Ages & Stages

and the 12 month Social & Emotional Ages & Stages?

If he’s not interested in Solids, what’s his milk intake like? I think the recommended amount between now and 12 months is 450 ml a day of you’re FF.

hi,
thanks so much for your reply. I contacted my Health Visitor yesterday however she is on sick leave and another one will be getting in contact with me.
He is generally happy and smiles watches his brother and sister. But feel like he's delayed in several areas. So when we first started weaning he has a sensitive gag reflex and would vomit when eating certain foods with lumps etc. currently having 6/7 bottles with 6 ounces of breastmilk a time. He has bronchitis a few weeks ago but now seems to have lost all interest in food and feels like we are starting weaning all over again. 😔 he does have a go with solids like finger foods etc but doesn't actually eat very much doesn't seem very good at chewing. And refuses foods on the spoon at the moment always wants to hold the spoon himself

Hey, it's so hard not to worry isn't it! Well I've spoke to health visitor and they said it's to early to worry yet they like to see the gestures by 15 months. He did start clapping around 11 months done it for a couple of weeks and now he's stoped. Will be one in 3 weeks and still not responding to name

Seems to be quite a wide variation of normal for imitation, gestures and communication. A lot of milestones such as clapping were mentioned online as 9 months when Infact it's commonly between 9-15 months xx

so they done the asq and he was slightly behind in gross motor as he's not standing and slightly behind in problem solving. They were ent concerned. But they also weren't concerned about my older son who was obviously autistic and made out it was in my head so I don't fully take what they say seriously xx

I had very similar experiences with DC2 who is now diagnosed as having AuDHD.

The Social and Emotional Ages and stages is a different assessment and sounds like it’s worth doing. There is a link to it here Flowers

Hi, hope you're good . No worries at all. Yes he's doing a lot better now imitating sounds started to respond to name also clapping crawling and waving. Also said yeah as his first word the other day. Think he's just a late bloomer! X

Was Nearly 11 months when he clapped. And his started waving 12.5 months. Health visitor said give it u til 15 months before you get worried! Seems to be a wide variation so try not to worry yet it's early days. Does your little one give eye contact etc ?

OP posts:
WorriedMama2025 · 08/04/2026 17:39

@Kayc93 - well eye contact is a funny one, because there was ZERO eye contact until 6-7m… now he gives eye contact id say 80-90% of the time.
glad your Little one is progressing 👏

I know it's hard not to worry but just keep a close eye and give a bit more time. I was worrying myself stupid a few months ago xx
