i had one for one or two of the dc. a bit 'meh' really. cant remember one way or the other.

Yurtgirl · 08/06/2008 23:01

Surely these are a shortlived waste of money gimmick - just my opinion!

Cushions, highchairs etc did the trick for me

deffo something for cash to splash

jingleyjen · 08/06/2008 23:03

DS1 didn't like his until he was about 18 months he used it then as a chair in the sittingroom
DS2 has used it lots but again mostly as a chair in the sitting room.
I know people who used them when the babes were smaller but we had no success with that.

stealthsquiggle · 08/06/2008 23:07

We found it v. useful for DD in the "want to be sat up but can't keep myself steady" stage - which co-incided with weaning. I was really sceptical until friends came over and brought theirs - we had to chisel DD out of it for their DD to be able to use it!

They are practically indestructible, though, so definitely look for one secondhand.

toddlerhip · 08/06/2008 23:17

Used it in the tiny kitchen when i wanted to keep an eye on ds. And i think in the bathroom for some reason i can't remember. I think i used it when hanging the washing out too. It was very useful (tho short-lived). The tray is great as you can give first snacks and put things to play with on it, but he worked out how to get it off pretty quickly. It's expensive (new) for the amount of time you use it.

morocco · 08/06/2008 23:23

loved it but only used it for about 6 weeks. we just borrowed ours then passed it on to the next people at baby group. worth seeing if any friends/toddler groups have one you could borrow to try out at least

handlemecarefully · 08/06/2008 23:26

I did have (when ds was little), and he didn't get on with it at all

DKMA · 08/06/2008 23:27

I've got one that ds has grown out of (he loved it) as he is nearly 1yrs old now

If anyone wants it I'm open to offers (saves buggering about on ebay)

handlemecarefully · 08/06/2008 23:27

Pick one up second hand if you can (try NCT Nearly New Sales)

wonderstuff · 08/06/2008 23:30

Buy one on ebay, good resale value

holeyguacamoley · 08/06/2008 23:35

I really liked mine- filled a gap when they were unable to sit unaided at high chair but ready to eat. Would be very wary re. putting on higher than floor, the first time they prise themselve out is when they need to stop using it, and being on the floor is a sore enough one! Useful but only for a very short time.

PeedOffandPg · 09/06/2008 00:00

DKMA - Are they heavy (thinking about postage) as would be interested. Ta. X

DKMA, am also interested

DKMA · 11/06/2008 12:03

Oops - sorry - I've been away with work (got back late last night). So sorry for no reply!

No it's not that heavy - so shouldn't be more than a couple of quid (£4 ish??) to post.

It is a green one and it has a very small mark on it (I can take pictures if you want)

Meandmyjoe · 11/06/2008 12:36

DS hated ours but he is awkward and still doesn't like sitting still now. Can't even sit in his car seat without whinging so it depends on the baby. I have heard they are great if your baby wants to sit and nose around. My friend's ds loved his but he was easy going.

Pinkjenny · 11/06/2008 12:39

Dd hated hers, she sat in it beautifully in John Lewis, so I forked out for it, and then as soon as we got the damn thing home she wouldn't sit in it. Its in the loft now. We should have just returned it, but we kept trying her in it for a few weeks in the hope it might keep her still for two minutes. She would just try and flip over the back of it.

wotulookinat · 11/06/2008 12:51

DS loved his, from about 4 months until 1o months when he started crawling. Worth every penny to us.

sorkycake · 11/06/2008 12:54

why don't you spend the time sitting behind her whilst she learns the vital skills of trunk co-contraction required for actually sitting up, rather than dumping her in a device where she can't move properly.

Springflower · 11/06/2008 13:19

I was given one by my sister-in-law who had seen a baby in it and thought it looked great. I'm not against them but my son didnt like sitting in it - he always wanted to be standing up (even though he couldnt stand up and needed held standing instead) so we gave it to someone else who was thinking about getting one. They tried it and their child was the same so we sold it on Ebay and got just about the same as was paid for it - I can even remember it cost £5 to post for whoever was selling it! So, a longwinded way of saying a NO from me or at least try one first if you can.
