anthing shape sorters musical toys its more just they get bored as there at the age of not being able to do all they want

my ds played with stacking cups shape sorters musical ones

but mainly noisy toys even saucepans with wooden spoon

I wouldn't bother buying toys for a 7mo. I'd just get out a few kitchen things, particularly items with different colours and textures.

I think they just get frustrated at wanting to move and do things that they can't quite manage yet.

WOuldnt buy anything either, give her things round the house to play with such as wooden spoons, plastic cups/plates. Babies this age dont need toys as such.

learningallthetime · 07/06/2008 11:44

I've given her wooden spoon but everything goes in hr mouth and I'm scared of her chocking on them.

At this age my DD was sitting up and not yet mobile, so very frustrated. Fortunately, the frustration was alleviated by Christmas and she received toys which she could bash and make music (like one of those VTech pianos). At just over a year old, she still enjoys these musical toys.

check it out here as it will give you more of an idea

I got my DS little tambourine and rainmaker shaker thingy he loved noisy things and they are relatively cheap to buy in our local toymaster! Also used to play with old baby bath full of water pouring from cups, rubber ducks from asda and a few plastic balls can also fill bath with balls too. I know they are not great ideas but its what me and my DS did whenmoney was tight and didnt see the point in buying at that age

moocowme · 07/06/2008 20:55

anything that makes a noise!

littleboyblue · 07/06/2008 21:04

Anything that's a bright colour, they can bash and makes a noise. My ds has a few toys from vtech, they quite good.
Don't need much, I agree with just get a saucepan and wooden spoon. She won't choke on it coz you not gonna go far from her whilst she playing.
I gave ds an old computer keyboard, he still loves bashing it and turning it over, hitting himself in head!
The simplist of things, even a cardboard box

i was given one of these and would never have bought it just on viewing in a shop but its brilliant. gumball machine

Each of the balls is different and have beads oir animals in them. My DS2(now 8 mths) loves it...it is a good height when sitting and he can press the button to make the balls drop (it then pays music and lights up).

He has figured out to pick ip the balls and then put them back in the top to do it again. He also loves just picking up the balls and holding and looking att ehm. The balls are just the right size for his hands.

DS1 2.5 also loves it and likes to press the button for his little brohter, as well as throwing and kicking the balls!

Thanks for all the suggestions.

She loves splashing about in the bath so I think filling her old baby bath with water is a fantastic idea. Will definitely be doing that tomorrow.

I found some musical toys on the ELC link and I think they'll be a good investment so I'll get her some shakers and maracas to annoy me with!

I'm off now to investigate the gumball machine further!

Potato masher and egg poaching pan were big hits in this house! Wish I'd never invested in baby toys...
