Hi all,
My little one is 15weeks old. He doesnt have a dummy but has now started to suck his thumb, only occasionally as he is kinda still working it out. if he finds he needs comfort i dont mind but not sure whether to introduce a dummy instead. i was a thumb sucker as a child i didnt give it up until my early teens!! needed braces on my teeth, the whole works. So as you can imagen i am abit worried he might go down the same path. i keep thinking that with a dummy i can get him off it eventually. whats everyone else's view on this??
Also at the moment he is on cow and gate number 1 milk, i am not going to start weening him at 4 months but thought about puttin him on the hungrier baby milk just as abit of a 'step up' before i start to wean at 5 to 6 months. Any views??

Just a quick comment on hungrier baby milk. This milk is made with a higher proportion of casein protein to whey protein than normal formula. Casein is harder to digest - which makes the baby feel fuller for longer, but can also lead to constipation.

If your baby genuinely is hungrier - that is, needs more calories because they're growing faster, then hungrier baby milk won't help. It has the same calories and nutrients as standard formula.

I've just started my own thread about dd (3.1) and her finger sucking. She has an association with her favourite cuddly toy, Doggy. Ds also had an association between a dummy and a crochet blanket. When the dummy went the blanket was forgotten.

I was wondering how best to 'get rid' of dd's Doggy in order to break her finger sucking habit. I know it would happen as we just spent 48 hours without him and she didn't suck her fingers.

So to all of you wondering about how to break your lo's habits further down the line, think about what association there is and you could break the habit by removing whatever the association is they have with their dummy/thimb sucking.

I just need to decide upon the kindest way to remove Doggy and when....
