2 year old not saying much

Pretty much as the title states. She turned 2 on 1st July and she hasn't said any 'new' words for weeks now. She has great understanding, points a lot, responds to name immediately, knows who people are, waves and says bye and blows kisses but she's not saying as much as I thought she would.
She does have phrases though, so she'll often ask 'wheres dada gone?' when he's gone to work and say 'wheres nana?' if she hasn't seen her for a few days and will ask 'whats that?' over nearly everything...I'm not sure if that's normal or a bit ott? I answer back every time, for example, I'll say dadas at work but she won't repeat that word back to me despite me saying it all day long. She starts nursery soon and I'm just concerned how she will communicate with them. She doesn't ask me for anything in particular either, if she wants a drink shell gesture with her hand and whine, and I say juice? Over and over and shell say yay! But not ask for juice or just say the word itself. Am I overthinking this?.

Kindly, it doesn’t matter if you’re overthinking things or not. What does matter is that you’ve noticed a possible difference in your DD to her peers and you’ve done exactly the right thing in asking about it.

I would start with this simple progress checker from Speech & Language UK. Let us know how you get on Flowers

Did you manage to complete the progress checker @Onekissisallittakes?

Mine had minimal words age 2, similar to yours. We had her assessed by the health visitor at 26 months and she was found to be speech delayed, but the HV said she had seen plenty of kids like this and because comprehension etc was good, she wasn't concerned. But it got up some free nursery through flying start, and about 2 weeks after the assessment her language started to improve (prior to flying start, so it progressed naturally) and has continued to progress ever since. She was a late starter, and is still toward the bottom of the pass mark for her age, but she's within the range for 'normal' and doesn't need any referrals and now aged 32 months she is a different child.
