Constant accidents and damage

My 11 year old , despite doing well at school , seems to be accident prone and cause damage while playing with other family belongings. We even have to lock rooms to keep her out.

she also struggles with the idea that a thing could be someone else’s , and will take it or play with it , since if she asks we will say no.

my concern is that she is on the spectrum , although I don’t like labels.

Has any one else similar issues ? What did you do ?

If you suspect that she’s in the spectrum, what assistance have you sought for her so far @FrustratedA? SaLT, Occupational Therapy, DBT?

What have you arranged with the school SENCO with regards to provisions for her? Does she have a toilet pass for instance?

No , but useful thoughts . Thanks

Does she start High School in September @FrustratedA?

And if you “don’t like labels” how does your DD feel about seeking some support and possibly assessment? At 11 she’s beginning to get to the age where it’s up to her to decide.

My own “D”M never sought and kind of help or assessment for me, I’ve only recently been diagnosed as having ADHD. She just constantly berated me and put me down for my behaviour. Needless to say we don’t have the best of relationships now as adults.

I’d have a think about how you see you and DD together when she’s 18. My own DD is now diagnosed as having AuDHD and I’ve tried to advocate for her and get support in place all the way through her childhood.
