4 month regression

Hi all, looking for some advice or light at the end of the tunnel! LO is 18 weeks and we’re now into the 4 month regression (I think) and finding it really tough! DD has been quite difficult from day one to be honest with really bad colic, trapped wind and bad silent reflux. I thought a few days ago we were finally starting to turn a bit of a corner but now things have gone backwards. We’ve had for some time now some feeding issues, I’m EBF and DD will only feed from the right side, unless in the night or she is just waking up from a nap and then I can get her to feed from the left. She also will only go to sleep while feeding and when gets tired will start mouthing on my top so I go to feed her, but then she cries and fights so I get up only for her to cry and mouth on my top again, so we go round in circles doing this for about half an hour each time before she falls asleep - this is still an ongoing issue (think it may be due to the reflux). LO used to be put down once she had fallen asleep during the day for a nap, but now she will only contact nap, screams if I try to put her in any sort of bouncer, carrier or car seat, again think due to reflux. She would nap for a couple of hours each time during the day but now she just won’t sleep at all during the day so is getting really overtired. She also just doesn’t seem happy for any length of time doing anything during the day, will start crying after about 5 mins of anything. She would normally go to sleep around half 8/9 in the evening and sleep until about half 6 but with night feeds in between but now she is waking up during the night and won’t go back to sleep - she was up from 1:30-5:30 last night! Just wondering if anyone has had similar experiences with their LOs and can offer any insight as I’m struggling to see a way through all of this! Sorry for the long post! (FTM btw).

You must be exhausted! Flowers

If she’s got reflux symptoms has Tongue Tie been ruled out and are you getting any RL support?

Hannah0207 · 18/08/2025 07:55

Yeah I must admit it has taken a bit of an affect on my mental health! I knew having a baby wasn’t going to be easy but I wasn’t prepared for all the issues! Finding myself just wishing the time away until she is a bit older which is not what I wanted to do. Yes she has been checked for tongue tie which she doesn’t have, also I should say we were prescribed some baby gaviscon which didn’t work and was a nightmare to administer as she is BF so gave up with that, also she is getting blood in her poop so we’ve ruled out CMPA and any allergies and dr doesn’t seem concerned. I feel like I’m just waiting for 6 months now as hoping things might get a bit better! She seems to be desperate to crawl and move around and do things she isn’t old enough to do yet so maybe she’ll be happier when she can get about - think she is a high needs baby!

Sounds like you’ve tried a lot. Who ruled out the TT?

Hannah0207 · 19/08/2025 18:31

That was Drs, I think it’s going to be a case of waiting for her to grow out of all the issues and just having to accept that it’s going to be really tough in the meantime. I’ve heard that things tend to get better once they can sit, once solids are introduced and then once they can crawl and then walk better again.

Does your LO have many if the symptoms in the link I posted? Unfortunately most GPs are unable to spot TT Flowers

Hannah0207 · 20/08/2025 10:25

She has a few, mainly the ones which are related to the silent reflux, such as wanting to feed all the time and coming off and arching her back. I felt sorry for her last night she was so tired and wanted to feed but every time I sat down to feed her she would pull away and arch her back and then I’d stand up and she would mouth on my t shirt and grumble again. So this went on for about an hour until I thought I’d try feeding her standing up and she immediately latched on, shut her eyes and went to sleep. If only I’d tried that sooner poor little thing.
