Hi everybody- I’m asking advice for my grandaughter
she was late to potty training but suddenly took to it and is now great - she’s 4 years old in august by the way
sadly she has not learned about poo
Wont use potty or toilet for poo and holds it until it’s found somewhere
she goes to nursery and due to start school in September but teachers won’t take her unless she is clean. She poos either her pants or recently in the playhouse
Wits end stuff ! Any help appreciated - thankyou

They can not refuse to take her because she has poo accidents. Incontinence is not a valid reason to refuse a school place. They are legally not allowed to do this.

Knowing this should stop any panicing. Because solving this can take years
You need to start having her ask for a pullup to poop, so she isn't just going in hiding places.

Once she does that have her go into the toilet to do her business, then once that is routine you have her sit on the toilet in her pullup.

Then cut a hole in the pullup.
Making it bigger each time.

Oh right - that’s a plan we hadn’t thought of - I’ll pass that on to my daughter.
As to school they haven’t actually said she can’t start - and they have done the usual - in this county - preschool home checks, but they were more than displeased to find poo in the playhouse which is understandable but as you say - children do it- I can remrnber clearly soiling my knickers at nursery school and I’m 74 now !
Thankyou for your reply - much appreciated xx

It’s probably worth sending her a link to the ERIC website too.
