12 week old not tracking objects

my 12 week old little boy rarely makes eye contact, when he does he is smiling and giggling etc, but you have to work hard to get his attention, he also doesn’t track things, he has tracked people a few times but not often but if I was to hold a toy up in front of him he wouldn’t look at it never mind track it, he happily has a kick about on his play mat and makes cooing noses a lot, but am just worried that he avoids eye contact and doesn’t track objects. I know you shouldn’t and I feel so guilty but I keep comparing to my older child at this age, has anyone experienced anything similar, I’ve found my self in a rabbit hole on Google and find am just constantly worrying about it x

@User356 i am in the exact same position.

my LO actively avoids eye contact. You will put your face in hers and she will turn away.
also 12w. I also am very worried after Google saying things. Not only that but delayed on lifting head (head lag) etc.

it helps seeing someone else goes through this (in the pilotest way possible) so we can support eachother

Thank you for your reply! No I totally agree it’s nice that someone else is experiencing this and as we can chat to one another! Have you spoke to HV or anything regarding it? I have appointment on Tuesday and am going to mention it x

Hi. My little one is going to be 11 months old soon, he is absolutely fine, his eye contact is brilliant, he knows his name, and is a very happy little boy! He’s crawling every where and pulling him self up! It’s so hard not to worry! But looking at him now I had nothing to worry about, but at the time it’s all I could think about and we even ended up being referred for a hearing test which was all fine! X

Thank you so much for your response…
Good to know that your little one is doing great..
If you don’t mind sharing, can you please tell me when the eye contact started? Mine is 11 weeks now and no eye contact and no social smile looking at us. He smiles a lot on his own looking at the wall or curtain.
