Well for 3 or 4 months, I have noticed that my dd starts grunting as soon as we put her her buggy, carseat etc...she ermmm makes her lower body going forward, backward..and she grunts, and she gets all red etc...not only that, everytime I take her for a cuddle in ed, I put her on the top, she starts doing it and she grunts a lot....Is it normal ? DD1 never did that before !

Hi Summerfruit, there was a similar post to this recently, someones DD doing the same thing, and she was doing it too when picked up by her dad which they were finding difficult.

Perhaps you could search for the thread. Its very quiet on here today, think it might be because of the bank holiday.

An old friend of mine had a dd of a similar age who was doing this, mostly it involved rocking back and forth on the edge of the sofa, she went to the GP and he said that yes she found it pleasurable but there was nothing wrong, just ignore it and she will stop in her own time.

Its very normal and tends to be a passing phase. Try not to make too big a deal out of it.

Children at this age are starting to develop an interest in their bodies and what feels nice. They have no concept of which bits are private and which things are acceptable and not- that is later to come.

My son appears to have started early at 5 months and tends to play with himself whenever he shares a bath with me (but not dh).....hmmmmmm

I agree its a passing phase, just something they have discovered feels nice. My daughter does it in her high chair, i just ignore it or lift her out.
Cousins child did a similar thing lying on her teddies, which was ignored or she was distracted, she grew out of it very quickly.
