As I was struggling to get my DD (now almost 10 weeks) to sleep during the day I bought a sling (got through 3 before I found a fab one - hug a bub). Now if she starts grizzling towards the end of her play time I just pick her up and pop her in it and withing 5 mins she is asleep (and can be for up to 2 hours - even longer if I go out).

I'm pleased this works as can do things while she is sleeping in the sling. However, she sleeps well in her moses basket at night and I'm worried that letting her sleep in the sling so often during the day might affect that. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Do you think it's likely to effect the good(ish) night-time sleeping routine already in place?

I have had ds2 (now 17 weeks) in the sling a lot and he is fine at night time, mainly because he has a clear night time routine I think. That said, he is getting bigger now and I don't have day time naps sorted so it's not the answer to everything!!

Ditto. I bought a sling at 10 weeks for exactly the same reason. DD slept in her cot at night but would get hysterical if you tried to put her in it during the day. She is now six months and still sleeps fine at night, but in the sling, pushchair or on my lap during the day. It is a bit frustrating, as now she is bigger it is harder getting things done with her in a front carry and I'm not confident enough to get her in a back carry by myself, but I guess it won't be long before she doesn't have naps at all (and it's quite nice to have an excuse to put my feet up for 30 minutes ).

Thats all reassuring..hopefully she won't turn against the night sleeps too! She loves the sling...I even get to have a nap during the day when she's sleeping in it...bliss!
I'll probably have to figure out carrying her on my back too when the time comes.

get yourself to a slingmeet, MandM. they will show you how to get your baby on your back. it is fantastic. they soon learn how to be patient to let you tie them on.

then again, with the MT you are thinking of getting (see other thread), back carries are even more convenient.
