Help - my 2 year old has gone off baths

My 23 month old ds has just gone off baths. Previously he loved them but after pooing in the bath by accident is now terrified of doing it again. When it happened we didn't make a fuss or get cross but it has obviously upset him as he mentions it when we run a bath(it happened about 10 days ago).

We have tried a bath soon after he has pooed, tried making it fun etc etc but no luck. I have also explained to him that it doesn't matter if it happens again. I also asked him if he would like a bath with his nappy on (well his swimming trunks). He just gets very upset at the prospect. He only has a bath a couple of times a week anyway, so we haven't tried to force him to have one since. The only thing that I can think of is to leave off the baths for the time being until he asks to have one. This could take some time... Any other suggestions?

Have you tried those "Tub Tint" things which turn the water bright colours? This may either help or scare him off baths completely. Or Lush do a bath ballistic called "Ickle Baby Bath" or something which fizzes about the bath. It releases sleep inducing aromas too.

How about "isn't it exciting today we're going to have a wash in the sink in the kitchen". Mind be worth a try as something a bit different.

where do you get the tint things from??? They sound great!

I've seen the tint things in catalogues. Urchin maybe, JoJoMB etc.... I can't remember!! I've seen so many catalogues recently. They weren't just a Christmas thing though.

JoJoMB have them but they're only suitable from 3yrs for some reason.

ELC have bath soap crayons, which I assume they can use to draw all over the side of the bath when they are in there, I assume they wash off easily too. I have never tried them but they may be an idea if you can't get a hold of the tints.
