14 months baby doesn’t give me things

Hi all, getting really anxious about my baby’s development. She’s 14 months . She doesn’t clap or point. She sort of waves but I’m not sure if it’s waving or hand flapping tbh.
She doesn’t ever give me objects or watch to see my reaction to things.
the not handing me objects is stressing me out a lot in particular - is this pretty much universal at 14 months?

She does respond to her name. She babbles a lot and will copy sounds sometimes. She smiles when I clap and laughs when I play peekaboo but doesn’t ever copy. She will copy me when I stick my tongue out sometimes . She loves Miss Rachel more than anything in the world lol.

Just looking for some experience from others I guess…

Have you had your twelve month review? Maybe contact the health visiting team?

Yes she was behind so they are coming back. She definitely doesn’t pass any of the questions on the 14 month questionnaire. Equally I don’t really find the health visitors very helpful.

The health visitor will be able to refer you to a paediatrician for a more in depth assessment if that's something you wanted to look at.

Try not to worry, all children develop at their own pace. Try incorporating miss Rachel into play with you, you may find you can engage her more if this is her real interest

thank you @Nelly44 ❤️. That does help.
Im wary of assessment as she’s so little and I hate the idea of labelling her, but everyone seems to say that early intervention is absolutely key so maybe it’s the right thing to do to push

You'll probably find the wait lists are long so if it was 6-12 months before the appointment she may well develop within that time anyway. If she does that's great, if not and you have some queries you'll have the appointment there.

Yes exactly this. And just keep doing what you’re doing. Do you go to any groups? It really surprised me how different the babies are developmentally. Do you have a local children’s centre? They can be good for advice and support

Very true. I will do this. Thanks for giving me the nudge.

I’m working so can’t take her to any groups unfortunately. I’m trying to work hard at engaging her in play more. For a while she loved animal noises but I think she’s getting bored or it now. Is there any resources you would recommend on how to play/ engage that I could do with her at home? X
