I have searched the Internet but everything I cone across says diffrent things.

my baby is 8months he has e meals a day and probably 6oz to 30oz milk - very dependent on the day varies massively - some days doesn't want any milk - others happy to drink.

everywhere says his main source should be milk. How do I get im to drink more?

developmental he is just starting to get into crawling position. yet the nhs say he should be crawling by now. should this worry me?
I haven't had a baby before

I have tryed to speak to my GP but unless my son is unwell they do not make appointments.

where do you get advice / information on these things? genuinely asking - online says in one article normal behaviour then in the next take baby to GP.

I have no idea anymore.

Crawling isn’t a concern at all. It’s recently been removed from the milestones as it’s such an unreliable indicator of progress, so try not to worry about that one.

As for milk, are you offering food roughly an hour after milk? So you could do something like this:

7am Milk

8 am breakfast

10 am milk

1pm milk

4 pm milk

5 om food

7 pm milk

And it all does sound fairly normal.

if you’re ever concerned you could always go to the baby weigh-in clinic and ask the HV or you fill in 8 month Ages & stages but try a
nd bear in mind that most babies will score grey in a couple of areas. If he’s scoring grey in more than 2 areas or black in any then come back and we can tell you what to ask for Smile

It sounds as though he’s beautifully on track then Smile

And yes, I do believe it’s a first time Mum thing. I can remember being absolutely besotted with my DC1 and that urge to do my best for them Smile

I agree, it sounds like he's doing really well with his development – most sections white, just one grey is a really good result.

The thing with weaning (and with quite a few other milestones) is that it really isn't a one size fits all thing. The books describe roughly the average, but some are faster or slower. Some babies really take to food, and milk very quickly becomes second-best. It sounds like your wee one might be one of those. That's usually fine – the ultimate goal is for food to replace milk, after all. Just try to give him a good varied diet, and you can get some milk or other dairy in through his meals – porridge, weetabix, greek yoghurt, cheese, fruit-sweetened rice pudding, etc.

he has a fruit wheatabix every morning - doesn't drink his milk and waits for it 😂
he gets a good variety of foods - spag bol extra spinach and roast beef being his favourite.

i just have read everywhere "food under 1 is just for fun" and my little man has decided food is better than milk.

would say he has not mastered sippy cup yet but thats OK.

Food is for fun under one is a bit out of date now. It’s now recommended that between 10 and 12 months they take 450 ml/15 Floz. I reckon your DS is more advanced than you think and has read this already Grin

If you’re worried that he’s not taking enough milk then it’s really the fat and calcium that you need to keep an eye on.

So make sure he’s getting plenty of good fats, you can add a little olive oil to Mashed potatoes for instance and give him some oily fish, boys can have oily fish 3 times a week.

There’s a recipe for Salmon here and you might find this article on Calcium useful too.

Once he drops under 20floz a day then he’ll need a daily vitamin.

I’d try not to worry though, it sounds as though he’s doing great Smile
