yep completely normal or we've both got the same dd. Mine has taken to hitting her little sister when I don't react to the throwing. So now I have to put dd2 out of dd1's reach and then walk away..... what happened to my sweet little angel??

Oh yes, my little one started having tantrums at about 16 months.

Yes -entirely normal - my DS was exactly the same - and progressed to banging his head on the floor in frustration (apparently my DH did the same as a small toddler!!!!). Thankfully, at the age of 2 (just) he appears to have outgrown this bit of the tantrum - the rest is still continuing though.

Mine are both older now but dd first threw herself down on the floor in a rage when she was 10 months - she had just learnt to stand alone

Yep, normal! 13 month old dd goes wild if we take something away from her (mobile phones, remotes etc). Distraction works though!

i've always assumed that toddler tantrums start at around 1year...they certainly have with ds who is only 14 months

Yes! Mine throws himself on the floor too!

and goes completely rigid, v dangerous when the floor surface is a concrete playground

ah yes mine throws herself at the floor too, although its nice to see that even in her fury, she's learnt that the floor hurts, thus her body goes down hard, then there is a gental lowering of the head, at half speed

Mine started throwing samll tantrums when he was about 13 months. No idea why they call it the terrible twos, I hope they don't escalate that much!

DS (13.5 months) gets very cross sometimes - generally if something is taken away from him, or at nappy times. I think it is normal, if frustrating (for both of us )

Absolutely normal, unfortunately.

i have found anticipating what he may react to and prepare him for each situation can help. have you tried explaining to her - just a few simple words ie. 'thats mummy's pen, thank you'.i've found since i began talking to my ds's though situations helped. my ds2 (now 19months) use to howl during nappy changes until i started to say 'nappy change time' - from 14 months he would go and find the changing mat and wipes and lie down!! i think they get so frustrated and want to be involved or copy what we are doing - could you give him his own crayons to hold? if he goes to draw on table and walls (which my ds2 has done) just keep putting paper in front of him and say 'on the paper, thats right, good boy' sort of thing.

lol..completely normal my DS is 15mths and for past 2 has been having tantrums and even what seme to be fits of rage..he throws stuff will try to hit or bite anything he is near..couch, dog ,toy, us. It is just them trying to gather boundaries and know where they stand etc....although it is younger than i expected

So very normal. I have a 15 month old and that sounds very familiar.

15 months and does eexactly the same!

Mine also throws herself backwards no matter where she is. We have to be ready to catch her!
