Hi All,

Really struggling ATM with my Dtr who is 21 months. She has no spoken words at all and her comprehension is very concerning. She is shouting and babbling but no formed words. She gets very frustrated very quickly whenever I try to engage in a task with her. She doesn't understand when I ask her "Where's Dada?" or "Bring me your shoes", she doesn't respond appropriately to being told "It's Bath Time" or "Dinner Time", all she wants to do is be mobile. Whether that's climbing or running. She doesn't always respond to her name 9/10 times she doesn't. She doesn't follow instructions such as No or Stop It.

I'm finding myself getting more and more frustrated and the more frustrated I get the less time I want to spend with her. I just want her to be normal.

I would speak to your health visitor about a referral to speech and language and maybe the paediatrican, then go back to basics with keeping language to one word modelling rather than any sentences for now.

Are you in the UK @FoxRedMum? If so, I would call your HV this morning, tell her your concerns and ask if she can see your DD to assess them next week.

Before you see the HV i would fill in both of these assessment forms:

22 month Ages & Stages

& the 24 month Social & Emotional Ages & Stages

If you need any advice on interpreting the scores we’ll be only too happy to help.

The charity mentioned by 1995 is excellent too Smile
