Hypermobility or hypotonia

Hi everyone,

My little girl just turned 2 and still isn't walking and has very few words.
Paediatrician not hugely concerned as she understands us, makes eye contact, responding to name, sleeps well etc.etc.

What I'm looking to see is, has anyone had these delays and no neurodivergence? She's very hypermobile but I'm worried sick.

Thanks ❤️

My DD has hypotonia and possibly sone hypermobility and only walked at around 2.5 years. She doesn’t appear to have any cognitive delays or signs of neurodivergence yet. Her speech is also fine after a bit of a slow start.

Our DD wasn’t talking at 2 but could understand us and follow simple instructions like “go and find Teddy” or “put the cup on the table”. The HV was equally unconcerned but DD does now have a diagnosis of AuDHD.

Are you in the UK? I’d be asking for a hearing test, SaLT, Portage and Physio and maybe an OT referral too Flowers

I'm in Ireland. Can I ask what else your little one was doing that concerned you? She's in physio and with a pediatrician also.

She was having huge meltdowns, totally unable to get herself back and regulated. Sometimes these ciukd last for an hour and the only way she would calm is if I physically hugged her.

She was also beyond fussy with food.

As well as the diagnoses of AuDHD she has also be diagnosed with ARFID and a language disorder which means that she can’t express how she feels so still low as a teen seems to let things build up then has an epic meltdown occasionally.

Has the Paediatrician asked you to fill in both of these assessments?

2 year Social & Emotional Ages & Stages

and the 24 month Ages & Stages?

They are usually used as a tool to see if a referral to a Paediatrician is needed but you’ve already had one. What they can also be useful to see exactly what areas she might be struggling in.

I’d have a look to see if OT, SaLT and Portage are available where you are Flowers
