sibling jealously

My child minder told me today that she caught my 3 yr old ds putting a bean bag over 4 mth old dd's head then trying to sit on her. How do I get my ds to understand the severity of his actions and to stop. Is it normal for older siblings to NEVER leave baby siblings alone? He is constantly in her face and poking and proding her. It's driving me mad, I can't even go to the loo in case he tries to do something to her....

ok you need to address how he feels about his sister, he needs to understand how he should proterct her, cant you make a big deal of the big brother thing? perhaps tell him he has now become her super hero - play on imagination side of things?

Yes it is normal for 3 year olds to do this. I takes a little while for them to adjust. My four year old has played nicely with his one year old brother for a few months but it has taken that long. I now leave them alone with no worries - there is hope!

Where was the CM?

"caught your 3yo"?

Does she leave him alone with the baby?

Not a good idea - whatever your older child is like - because they can cuddle too enthusiastically, etc - with no malice intended.
