Have been worried about my daughter and wonder what you think.

She:

  • has huge meltdowns after preschool which often result in aggressive behaviour to me and dh
  • doesn’t seem to notice bodily cues, have to constantly remind her to drink and go to the loo. Can go all day with just a couple trips if we don’t keep telling her to go
  • quite bossy and dominant in friendships
  • tends to seek out one very best friend and be a bit controlling over them just hanging out with each other
  • very picky eater
  • hates noisy handryers, food processor etc
  • was a very colicky baby

but on the other hand:

  • no problem naming emotions
  • Hitting all milestones
  • social and interested in making friends
  • enjoys imaginary play

any thoughts?

I’m sorry but I don’t think your “on the other hand” things would rule out ASD, but I’m not a Professional.

Some DC with ASD can make emotions, I know mine could in some situations.

Also some people with ASD are chatty and friendly, just like some NT people are.

I don’t know if you meant it to but your reply comes off as defensive. I don’t think the OP is saying ND children are not capable of these things - just that these are things professionals regularly say would indicate your child is developing normally (socialising with people, imaginary play, hitting milestones like crawling, walking, speaking) Obviously ND is a spectrum but OP is only quoting common advise. But maybe I’ve read your post in the wrong tone.

OP nothing you have said jumps out as an obvious concern - but if you are worried try looking at the 4 years ages and stages and if they are scoring low speak to your HV
