hi everyone ! i have a 10mo daughter and she just ... doesn't roll over ?! she rolls side to side but never back to belly and vice versa.

i think what's confusing me more is that she can sit up (has been for months), crawl (since feb) and is now trying to walk.

is this normal ?? i've heard that some babies skip over it and its completely okay but some people say its abnormal and she should be checked out :/ thank you !!

Rolling is a very variable milestone. Some babies use it as a primary means of locomotion for months. Others...are not bothered. DD1 was cruising the furniture before she rolled back to belly – I used to wonder if at some point she'd fall and get stuck on her back like a little turtle. She's five now, no issues.

To me, it sounds like your wee one's gross motor skills are fine, but she hasn't yet felt motivated to learn to roll. What would she do if you put her on her back on the floor and left her to it? Preferably with some nice tempting toys a little out of reach? We also used to play a game of rolling over and over down our (carpeted) hall that she enjoyed – I gradually helped less and less. I suppose it was also a bit like peekaboo, as obviously she could see and engage with me on her back.

we've tried leaving her on her back and using her toys but she just lies there and smiles !😭😭

Ah, little monkey! One option is to leave her longer, of course. Or put something very tempting that she's not usually allowed to touch just out of reach.

I've remembered another rolling game – put her on a blanket on her back, then lift one side of the blanket so it gradually tips her onto her side and then her tummy. And then do the other side so it rolls her back.

Does she roll in bed at all, or if you put her on her back, is that her?

she rolls onto her sides and onto her back but it's like she forgets her belly exists !😭
