Toddler gamed

Hi everyone,

so my two year old has recently gotten into iPad games (not my fault, he saw me studying on it and got really intrigued so I downloaded a shape sorting game for him and he’s been loving it since then).

My question is - educational ipad games, good or bad?

And also, any recommendations for some good games to download for toddlers? I’m willing to pay for subscription but only if the game is worth it as a lot of games out there become boring after a few plays.

thanks!

Generally, bad at that age.

Turn it off. There's nothing he can learn on an iPad that he won't learn from real life if you engage and play with him.

Take the ipad away from him

Plenty of tine when he is older

We started with iPad at 2 year old, but limited the time to 1 hour a day max. I think it is fine when the kid learn new activities, including new technology. The key is to strictly watch what he/she plays. As I'm a Montessori teacher, we only searched games that are based on reality (no animals driving cars to not confuse a 2 year old which can't distinguish fantasy from reality yet). This proved to be quite difficult. Mizeki Puzzles & Minigames is a good example of an app that has animals doing real animal things with a nature ambient music playing in background. Fox & Sheep studios has also some amazing games, but some of them are not based on reality (like the one where Fox drives a train), but others, like construction or farming games are 100% reality based and awesome, but mostly for older kids.
