This is gunna be super long but honestly i'm desperate. Our newborn is 6 weeks old and is honestly turning into an inconsolable baby. He was suspected to have CMPA because he was struggling to poop basically. Other than that he was pretty settled. We went on the milk two weeks ago and my god the fussiness has only gotten worse. He seems more and more uncomfortable and unsettled. He's entertained for maybe 5 minutes then cries.
The past three days he has quite simply; fed, screamed then eventually slept for two hours before the cycle starts again. We suspected he had silent reflux as he was grunting and squirming a lot in his sleep and had worsening congestion. He's just gotten worse and worse and I have no idea if its reflux or not. He seems pretty settled when feeding, and can be settled after for all of 5/10 minutes, sometimes an hour, until he just starts screaming. He's happy enough on his back after feeds, can be entertained for like half an hour on his back. But the uncontrollable crying is unbearable.
I've heard what I think is him swallowing sick, I can't hear it come up but he'll pause when crying to swallow then continue to cry. Sometimes he'll stop crying and i'll hear nothing, no swallowing and the crying just randomly starts again.
Even with all this crying he can sleep for two hours on someone (lying flat, on his tummy, or just upright), he's still been sleeping on his back at night time and does 4-5 hour stretches on a night time only waking to feed then passing back out. I can't work out if he's struggling with wind or if he's got reflux and it's just gotten dramatically worse.
We ended up in a&e last night because the crying would not stop. They said it could be reflux so gave us carabel (i think thats what its called), we've used it all day today and I haven't seen any difference in his crying. He can be like 3/4 hours after feeds and still crying even after being upright for those 3/4 hours. He's grunting and squirming in his sleep even when held completely upright but he seems to settle again.
Honestly I have no idea if its reflux, gas or just him going through something. Has anyone got any advice or any suggestions, I am desperate now.
