Will my youngest be taller than my oldest? 2nd centile and 90th centiles

I have two sons, 3 year old is between 2nd and 9th centile for height
My 9 month old baby is 90th centile for height, and is only 15cm smaller than my 3 1/2 year old
Will my youngest be as tall as my eldest soon? I don't understand how it works really
And does anyone know how to estimate height for when they are adults?

I would say yes they're going to be taller and pretty quickly.

Being on the 9th centile means that out of a hundred boys his age, 91 will be taller and being in the 90th centile means that out of boys his age 89 will be smaller.

I had mine a while ago but they used to give us a Red Book which had a formula in where you could put in your height, the Dad's height and baby's length at birth and it would give you an estimate of their adult height. It's been pretty accurate for us Wink

He could be, yes, but I would also consider how tall you and the father are – not all children track along the same centile forever. I have very long babies for some reason, but aged 5 and almost 3, they are both around the 50th centile, which is about what you would expect given parental heights.

Looking at the centile charts, if your boys stay on the same centiles and your eldest has just turned 3, they'll be the same height when your eldest is about 6 1/2 – both around 110-111 cm. If your eldest is nearer 4, then it will be a bit longer.
