When did everyone start to wean their babies? Or try?

I see kendamil & Ella's kitchen do a 4-6 month range and my little one will be 4 months soon. How much do you start with? Do you substitute their usual milk for things they are eating?

First time mum so I'm not sure!

Guidance is to wait until they’re 6 months old and can sit up in their chair, have a steady head etc. And there’s something about having the tongue reflex to push food.
Don’t start at 4 months, it’s too early and runs extra risk of choking if they’re not ready for it.
Just stick to milk until they’re actually ready. Google the signs that they’re ready so you know what to look out for.
Honestly don’t rush into it. It’s not fun, it’s super messy, their poop becomes gross and you have anxiety about choking.

This article from the NHS tells you the signs of readiness for trying solid foods. There is literally no benefit in trying any earlier.

Don't let a manufacturer of baby food, who is far more interested in taking your money than the health of your baby, tell you when to start weaning Wink

When baby is showing the signs of readiness then [[https://www.cwt.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/CHEW-1stYearLifePracticalGuide.pdf this guide has some good suggestions of first foods to try Wink
