I have to say we have had great results with these with DS2 who has ASD and with DS1 who is just a bit of a boy . I can tell the difference with both boys. Just starting again on DD but effect is less obvious with her.
I would say use the best type you can afford as the cheaper ones can be full of sweetners and additives which totally negate the benefits.
i use Pro EFA from Nordic Naturals ( via nutricentre on line) and Eye-Q from Boots
the chewables capsules are good for liitle ones and the big capsules for bigger ones who can swallow them whole. I find the liquids disgusting personally.
I also always buy when Boots have a 3 for 3 offer as they are expensive but have v. long use by date
hth's

pagwatch · 01/05/2008 15:32

hmm
actually the 3 for 3 isn't such good value
perhaps try the 3 for 2 instead...

JodieG1 · 01/05/2008 15:33

Lol 3 for 3.

I've been meaning to try these with my dc's so will be watching this with interest.

Porpoise · 01/05/2008 15:33

dunno about behaviour but they don't make you brainy

I give my boys Eskimo Kids. I can't categorically say that they are helping, because obviously I have no idea what they would be like now if they hadn't been taking them for 2 years! But I look back and I can see that they have made more progress in the last 2 years than in the 5/6 years before that. I believe that part of that could be down to the supplements they're on.

Hecate · 01/05/2008 15:38

I wouldn't say they make them more clever (although how would I know, I can't compare them WITH fish oils and WITHOUT fish oils! but I think it has improved their concentration etc.

southeastastra · 01/05/2008 16:43

thanks all, just want to help son's concentration

I would love to try these but DS1 who is ASD but not normally fussy about food won't touch them. I even tried the citrus liquid but he detected the sinister oily film on his normal juice.

NotABanana · 01/05/2008 18:42

My kids have tried 2 boxes and tbh I didn't notice anything different. Maybe mine are a lost cause.

Would consider trying the eye-q ones though if they do help.

Boots have 3 for 2 on eye-q stuff.

foxinsocks · 02/05/2008 22:11

YES. And I do not support supplements.

They even make a difference to my behaviour.

stuffitllama · 02/05/2008 22:12

Porpoise -- you can't trust what the Guardian says about supplements... they've got a right downer on them .

Loshad · 02/05/2008 22:58

don't seem to make any difference to my dc's behaviour, but then perhaps they'd be even madder without them - impossible to test until you clone your dc's.
