Baby taking steps for 5 weeks but still not walking

I know this is probably normal but I just need a bit of reassurance. My son started crawling just before he turned 7 months, it took him a week to master it and then he was off, he started to stand and cruise very soon after. At 10 months he started standing independently and not long after that started taking a few steps independently too. He’s now 11 months + 1 week and is walking more often, I notice him choosing to walk over from the couch to his toy boxes rather than crawling. However, he’s still not taking many steps at a time, id say usually 5 to 10 max before falling and he’s still very wobbly even just standing.

I think I’ve just seen too many stories of people saying ‘one day my baby just got up and decided to walk’ and because he’s mastered other stuff so quickly once learning it I’m expecting the same here. So just looking for reassurance and similar experiences.

I did have the HV yesterday for his 1 year check up and she was very impressed with him and he scored high points in everything and wasn’t concerned about the walking, so again I know I shouldn’t be but it’s still something that I keep worrying about!

Most of the 'just got up and walked one day' stories are about babies who walked relatively late, 15-18 months of age, so they had many more months to build up strength and coordination. It's completely normal for younger walkers to be wobbly for ages.

He sounds fine to me. Mine was walking between furniture at 8 months but didn't walk independently in a steady way until he was 10 months. He's learning as he's going. He's obviously a quick learner 😊
