14 month old not standing/no interested

My 14 month old little girl is still not standing. She is a twin and is the 99% in weight and 97% in height. She can sit independently (she mastered it around 11 months tbh) when she wants too but prefers to be lay down rolling around and going on her tummy. She loves kicking her legs and moves around the house like a catpaillar on her back. So she gets around in her own way! She has also started to slowly get on all fours or try and get in the sitting position by herself. That’s when she seems to be concentrating on at the moment.

However when it comes to standing, she refuses to stand. She has bared weight on her feet several times but the the max is around 1-4 seconds she will do it. After the she will keep her legs in the air, most days though if I put her on her feet she will just go into the kneeling position. I keep trying to put her on her feet but she is a heavy toddler bless her! Has anyone had a similar experience with a baby? The health visitor said they would be contact me on their first birthday about her standing but hasn’t bothered and I can never get through to them. Even left them a message but no return! Should I be worried or is her size holding her back or is she lazy? She had a hip scan at 4 weeks old cos she was a twin and her hips were fine. I feel like it’s something I’ve done wrong. Her brother is now standing at 14 months but she’s no where close!

That's shocking service from your HV. Does that mean that the DTs haven't even had their 12 month check?

I'm no expert, but there's definitely something worth investigating for your little one here.

Seeing as your HV is so useless, I'd book a GP appointment.

I agree with talking to the GP. I'm not sure that I would count so few seconds as weight bearing and she does need investigations.

I'd print off and fill in the 14 month Ages & Stages and the 12 month Social & Emotional Ages & Stages and take them to the GPs appointment with you Flowers

I agree it’s worth investigating. With my DD we found it impossible to get a referral to physio before 18 months and only managed to get referred to a paediatrician around 24 months. We were repeatedly dismissed by the health visitor and GP. She didn’t want to weight bear until around 20 months and took her first steps recently at 28 months. Still be investigated for the medical cause.

That said kids do develop at different rates. My sister was a big baby and didn’t walk until 18 months. As an adult she is the slimmest and fittest out of the family and there was nothing wrong with her.
