AIBU to suspect Cerebral Palsy

Hello. I'm looking for some advice regarding my 11 month old. She is still unable to sit independently or crawl. She rolls both ways, onto her tummy and back again.. She has recently started to push off her legs and stand whilst being held.

I've googled and I am terrified as the symptoms could be cerebral palsy. Had anyone been in this position and could let me know their outcome.

I have been in touch with doctors and health visitors, they have said she has good muscle tone and holds her head really well but were unsure what to do next.

Firstly crawling isn't a milestone anymore so don't worry about that one.

Also it's, really, really good that she's weight bearing on her legs.

Have you got your 13 month check booked with your HV and has she asked you to fill in the 12 month Ages & Stages?

Thank you for your reply! Yes we are booked in for January. She's not able to do much of the gross motor section currently.. She was born at 37 weeks so not sure if this has an effect.

I thought 37 weeks was full term? I could get Beth wrong though.

My oldest rolled once at 6 months then never again and never crawled, went straight to pulling up and walking at 14 months and is now a thriving, crazy 5 year old. I think the age range for achieving these milestones is so broad, you will always get some little ones who do it “later” than others. Try not to worry, she will get there in her own time!

You know your baby best.

Everyone said to me that it was because my twins were born early (32w) and that they’d ’do it in their own time’. They are now 20 months, have been in physio since 12m and still have not ‘done it in their own time’ They army crawl to get around and cannot stand without some support and cannot get themselves to sitting from lying (they can sit up though if placed there).

I would ask for a referral to physio, it wouldn’t cause any harm if she begins to pick it up on her own. They just show you exercises to do with them at home to encourage muscle building etc.

Thank you all for the replies. It's good to hear others stories and I hope all your babies are doing well.
My instinct is telling me she's fine and she will get there but the older she gets the more I'm wondering if that's just wishful thinking.
I have seen the health visitor who is coming back in around 7 weeks to see how things are. Doctor acted as if I was overreacting and just worrying too much. I have now made an appointment to see another doctor for a second opinion and I'm hoping they will refer for physio even if it just puts my mind at rest.
