My DS who is in year 6 did some kind of extra-curricular activity nearly every evening. It was swimming, football, chess club and scouts. Football would be one weekday and both weekend days so pretty full on. Now he has dropped everything but football over the last few months. He says he has no interest in the other things anymore. I agreed because I thought as it's SATs year maybe he needs to focus more on this but starting to wonder if I should have made him carry on at least one more. He reluctantly does do homework, some days ok but other days it can be a bit of a battle and it's never more than half an hour. Otherwise he mainly wants to spend the rest of his time on his video games. This makes me thing it was a mistake to drop these clubs and I shouldn't have given him the option. Do you think it's right to 'force' kids to do some activities?
