How long is a “Short Term Measure”

DC (4) started school this Sept and struggled massively in the first two weeks (hitting/lashing out, mainly teachers but couple of incidents with peers). School requested a reduced timetable which we have now stuck to for six weeks. Behaviour has vastly improved from DC yet school want to continue with reduced hours. How long until we can say this is unreasonable? It’s having a really detrimental effect on our lives (both DP and I work full time), plus DC is now questioning why they are the only one not staying in class all day.

We can’t answer that
you need to engage with the school to find out the school’s interpretation on “short term” in your daughter’s case

@ketchuptom I am, of course, engaging with the school.
I’m hoping for replies from people who have been in similar situations with reduced timetables.

I’m a teacher - at my school reduced timetables are reviewed at least every 2 weeks. A strong reason for continuing beyond 2 weeks must be given and this is signed off by the SENCO and head.

What are the school doing to help to transition her to full time? It's Half-tern Holidays here, have they said that they'll try her will full time for the next half term?

Has she had an Occupational Theraoy referral? This can help with making some adjustments that will be make things a bit easier for her.

Is she just 4 or 4.5?

And it's always worth doing this simple progress checker from Speech & Language UK Flowers
