Hi

I have three children all boys

13, 3 and 2

My 13 and 2 year old are happy children and I hate to use the word normal in behaviour.

My 3 year old has shown some behaviour issues for some time, waiting for a appointment for him to be assessed.

His been through family action 12 weeks support nothing they could do and wrote a letter to the GP requesting a referral this was 9 months ago but local to me 18-22 month wait.

My son has attended a childminder since he was 1 year old, and she has worked in childcare for 17 years and is certain he is autistic.

He is verbal, but behind on speech, he lines up multiple times a day his cars both childminders cars and home, and you cannot touch the cars he melts down, he regularly bites and lashes out like a switch, I tried football club for toddlers 2 year old loved it, 3 year old couldn't handle the noise and would push over other children and scream so after 4 supportive sessions, he was asked to leave and hope he can return if his behaviour settles. Absolutely no sense of danger walking down the side of the road is very hard, never slept thrashes around in the night screaming out regularly. His been asked to leave many childminder clubs with the childminder due to his behaviour.

Now my childminder who has been a god send with his behaviour, about 6 weeks ago she was asked to think about returning with him to a childminders club, he really bite another child and not for the first time. So she has asked I find somewhere else for him.
I found a new ISH nursery and I made contact and explained happy for him to start with a gentle approach so he began 3 weeks ago one session a week, upping soon to two.

His behaviour has been outstanding since he started no biting no hitting his been listening better even at home, almost to the same as his 2 year old brother which is a great improvement for my 3 year old.

I have no reference and I am trying to stay away from Google. Any parents experienced this change of behaviour with a new start ?

I've not experienced a difference in settings although my youngest was excellent at masking.

Just wondering if you've applied for an ECHP yet?

Hi thank you for reply

No not as yet, he has the health visitor coming tomorrow afternoon, to complete an assessment on him.
Childminder has done a recent eyfs report.

And it shows again how much of a handful he can be and how far behind he is. I just am baffled by his behaviour at nursery

Do you know what assessment tool the HV will be using? Has she asked you to fill anything in?
